Activity versus Action

There is a sense of satisfaction in doing something.  I do believe that while we are all born lovable and worthy (see Sunday’s post) and nothing takes our essential core worth away, we enhance or detract from our core by our actions.  When we do things that are out of alignment with who we really are we feel disconnected and dim our light. When we move out of our comfort zone and take a risk to grow bigger we make our light shine brighter.

But often our days are full of activity but no action.  We are working very hard but nothing is moving us forward.  It feels like the maintenance of our lives takes up so much time that there is no time to do the things to move toward a new goal.  Obviously in life we all have life maintenance activities that have to happen but when we have goals we have to carve out room for the action steps that those goals require.  Not all activities are created equal.

My challenge for myself today is to look at all the things that I am doing and to see which are activities and which are taking action toward some of my goals.

Right now I’m working on the following:

  • Moving my body toward its ideal weight. (See my other blog:  Livewellstressless.info)
  • Expanding my paid speaking business.
  • Creating a home environment that supports me.

So ask I myself as I look at how I am spending my time:  "Am I taking action toward those goals or filling my life up with activities that mean less?"  I know I can make better choices on how I use my time.  The challenge is to remember that!
