On the walk today: Grace in Dying

Posted on Posted in Noticing Beauty, Photo posts

On our walk today I was drawn to the perfect beauty of plants and trees as they reach the end of their life cycle or as the bud dies. Some people may just look at these plants as dead things to get rid of, but I think if we can set aside all our fears about dying for a moment and just be present, there is grace and beauty in dying. I witnessed this as I sat by my mom’s bedside in her final days.

Here is one of those “Grace in Dying” moments from today. This tree in a neighbor’s yard took a hard hit in the storm last November and it looks like it has other disease too. But there still is something stately and interesting here. I know the neighbor’s are taking this tree out soon. I’ll be sad to say goodbye!
