August Musings Navigating Change

Month 5 for me of working from home and only heading out when required. This post contains some practices/mindsets that have helped me navigate and which may spark some ideas for you. Plus I’m excited to announce two classes available in September. Who would have thought a year ago this is where we would be? I know I didn’t. But it has encouraged me to go deeper with my spiritual practices and asked me to step up in ways I couldn’t have anticipated. I’ve been honored to hold ceremony for families who have sick loved ones and for those who lost loved ones during this pandemic. There is something profound about doing death rites and helping souls cross over. It is sad certainly but also a privilege. I’m also doing lots of ceremonies of visioning the highest for this time. In each ceremony I do, I add prayers for my […]

Making room for creativity

My muse is rather put out with me. I show up at the page after days of procrastinating and I speak to my muse, “Impress me.”  Her reply is  “Not sure, babe.  You have been ignoring me for days. Now you want me to produce on demand. And you want a fully formed idea right off the bat.  You haven’t put in the work.  You have to prove to me you are willing to show up and write even when you don’t feel like it.   I need you to commit.” Facing the blank page and inviting her to show up takes a lot more courage than writing a new online class. Writing the class is easy. It is just organization. I know the material. But the creative storytelling projects feel like I am trying to grab formless desires and put them on the page. “I was going to write a […]

We can do better

We Can Do Better

This post grew out of a post in my journal.  It is an opinion and a call for us to know that we can do better.  That we have to use our spiritual connections, our creative imaginations, our compassion and courage to visualize and take action to create better.  The very recent past “My stomach hurts. My neck hurts. Please, please. I can’t breathe,” George Floyd begs.  Pinned by a police officer who sees him as less than human–deserving of death for the color of his skin or the accusation of passing a bad bill. How can anyone viewing that make excuses or think it is anything less than murder? Ahmaud Arbery jogging.  Murdered because a man of color running in their neighborhood must be up to no good. An entitled woman—who think the leash laws don’t apply to her calling the cops on a black man who simply asks […]

Cultivate Powerful Love

This morning in my meditation journaling this  flew onto the page.   A reminder that we do have a choice on what we feed and cultivate.  I haven’t been sharing my “From Scared to Sacred” Messages but this reminder felt like it needed to me shared.  I call it Cultivate Powerful Love. Cultivate Powerful Love   In times of fear, powerful love is needed In times of feeling powerless, powerful faith and connection must be tended. Draw light from the sun, the moon and the stars. Ask that your light is made strong. Send roots down to Mother Earth. Ask her to ground you and make you steady in uncertain times. Connect with the Divine, The Source, however you experience That Highest Power. Ask for Love to Grow Strong. Send Love to someone who is sick. Send Love to those who are helping the sick. Send Love to the fear of […]

6 Questions for When Energy is Churning

Are you feeling the energy churn? If you are energy sensitive, you may feel anxious or exhausted when you look at the news.  And sometimes the energy is mixed with changes we want to make in our own lives so we feel like we can’t separate what is ours (family, job issues, health or money issues) from what we are picking up from the world (political unease, environmental concerns, etc.).  I call this feeling the energy churn.  That internal tornado of feelings that stirs up all sorts of thoughts.  “We need to change.  I don’t know what to do!  The world feels unsafe! I don’t want to do this!” It can be so easy to let the energy churn and end up wanting to pull the covers over your head and check out for a while.  I’ve been having more and more days where I have wanted to pull the […]

2020. New Year. New Decade. Thank You. Thank you.

When I think back to the beginning of 2010, I had no idea how much my life would shift and change in the next 10 years.  Sometimes it is helpful to look back with gratitude for how far we’ve come, what we have survived and say thank to the Divine Universe/God for helping us to make it to another year. At the beginning of 2010, I was working on From Scared to Sacred in a Writer’s Group.  I was a hypnotherapist seeing clients. I was working part-time nights and weekends at the law firm I had worked at since 1989.   In 2010, I submitted my book in something called “the Next Top Spiritual Author Competition.”   Even at the time, I thought that a competition among spiritual authors seemed like an oxymoron.   And it turned out to be a divine plan to connect me with like-minded people around the world.  These […]

Messages from Dad through the Veil

“Your Dad is here and he wants me to tell you he doesn’t like your business cards!” the medium told me.   Out of all the things my dad could travel through the veil to tell, the fact that he did not like my business cards was not what I was expecting to hear. However, this woman had already shared some information about my ailing mother from my grandmother that seemed on point so I decided to go with it. “What doesn’t he like?” I asked, thinking of my clever cards for my hypnosis practice that had a red-haired cartoon woman with a pendulum on them. “He says you are much more creative and spiritual than those cards. He is showing me the color pink”. I knew the woman had to be getting her wires crossed. I could NEVER see myself with pink cards. Then she shared something with me […]

Adding Love to 2019

As we begin the new year, I am challenging myself with two questions designed to remind me to focus on adding love to 2019. After all love is that special sauce, the secret ingredient that makes everything better.  It certainly feels like we all could use some more of it. 1.     How can I demonstrate LOVE to myself? You may say things to yourself that you never would say to other people.  Or you put other people’s needs first and your heart is crying out for some care and concern for you.  Maybe you fell off the healthy eating wagon and you want to get back on without beating yourself up.  Or perhaps you always go for the attainable rather than your big dreams.   What would your loving self say or do for you? Last year I started a practice of saying the Ho’oponopono prayer as a mantra for a […]

Video 3 questions to shift your energy

I was honored to be one of 18 wisdom keepers sharing a tool to help us navigate the Solstice and the time we are living. This annual solstice online event was created and hosted by Renee Baribeau, Author of Winds of Spirit.  It is always such an honor to join Renee for conversation. Three Simple Questions This year, I chose these three questions that can be used in journaling, meditation or ceremony to call your energy back into present time and realize what power you have to shift. Where do I feel or notice this energy? What is the story that goes with it? Where can I shift? That’s it? Those are the questions?  Yep.  I  find that the most basic questions yield the most powerful results.  I truly believe in the KISS principle (Keep it simple sweetheart).  You see what I did there?  No calling people stupid in my blog! These […]

Healing Hearts: An Invitation from the kitten, David

Meet David.   He is a rescue kitten being  fostered by my friend BJ.   David has a hole in his heart that cannot be operated on and that is resulting in pulmonary hypertension.  He has a team of vets working to control this hypertension with drugs.  After a time in the hospital over Christmas he is back with his foster mom. Full disclosure I am highly allergic to cats and can only last in most cat households for a few hours before  I’m making myself scarce. I’ve actually ended up with hives from spending too much time in a kitty household without antihistamines.  But that doesn’t mean I don’t love them from afar.   And this little guy has already taught me something special. When I tap into his energy, it seems like his mission here no matter how long his time is here on earth is to teach us all about […]
